Centrepay is a voluntary, free bill-paying service offered by Services Australia that allows individuals receiving Centrelink payments to pay for essential goods and services directly from their fortnightly benefits. While Centrepay policy strictly prohibits paying off consumer car loans, it can be used for essential vehicle expenses like registration, insurance, maintenance, and car subscription services through approved providers.

Key Takeaways & Program Guidelines

Excluded Costs: Centrepay deductions cannot be used to pay off consumer car loans, lease-to-own vehicle contracts, or consumer credit debt.
Eligible Vehicle Expenses: Payments can be set up for essential motoring costs, including vehicle registration, compulsory third-party (CTP) insurance, comprehensive insurance, repairs, and short-term rentals.
Automated Convenience: Deductions are made automatically on your regular Centrelink payment dates, preventing missed payments or late penalties.
Full Payment Control: You can start, pause, adjust, or cancel Centrepay deductions at any time through your Express Plus Centrelink app or online account.
